Ballistics Geek

Linoge got into a chat with some gamers (LARPers) about the possibilities of a wooden shotgun slug for vampire-killin'.

Cue my inner geek. Not the mechanics of vampire-killin', but an effective conversion from lead to wood.

Wood is too light, so a wood/metal combination is clearly necessary.

I ended up doing the math.

Turns out a simple cylinder/cone arrangement will get you within a couple grains of the original weight.

Interesting ... very interesting.

    I think the most persuasive argument against vampires being real is that Remington hasn't introduced the 100 grain DRAC-STOPPER...

    I read an article in Handloader a few years ago that mentioned that during WW II the Army tested copper jacketed OAK bullets. I remember thinking, "Vampire Nazis?". Very cool.
