Adding to the safe...

At a time in life when I have trouble scraping up two free hours to go to the range, it seems odd to add things to the safe - but I'm fortunate enough to have a second job to provide some play money and acquire a few things I've wanted. On the plus side, guns don't go bad, so they'll be there for me to enjoy as time does permit.

I just got notice from a seller that the latest acquisition has been shipped.

Guesses are welcome, with the following hints:
1) It's a long gun.
2) It's previously-loved.
3) It was made in NY.
4) It's not *quite* C&R-eligible.

Those who saw the info go by on #GBC, behave. ;-)

Ithaca Model 37?

It is not a 37, although I have been keeping an eye out for another suitable one.

Long Gun from New York State, eh? Something that came from a little shop in Illion, NY, perhaps? Officially called a 1903, so it's not quite C+R? Caliber 30-06, perhaps?

Well, you got the Ilion part right. An '03 would be C&R-eligible, though, as any gun over 50 years of age automatically is ok.

So it's not a 1903.

Jay, if you can find me a C&R-eligible R25, there's a c-note in it for you. ;-)

Laura - nope.

Sound's like you bought an older Remington 870

Sport Pilot has come the closest thus far, but not quite there...

Ahhh. Then you bought either an old model 11 (great shotgun BTW) which would almost make C&R or the Mdl 48 (A-5 copy)which falls within the age period.

Well, you said "not *quite* C&R" which lead me to believe you were being ironic and got a new(ish) gun.

Nice pick-up BTW.
