The crux of the matter

When you get right down to it, the biggest reason I'm going to Pittsburgh next week is to meet a lot of you. And I am incredibly eager to do so. Putting faces and handshakes with handles on the screen will be wonderful.

I'm not generally a "polished" kind of guy. Jeans and a t-shirt, two-day face-fuzz, hiking boots, etc. That's how I'll look for most of the weekend. I reckon I'll clean up as best I can for prom night... but that begs one question:

WHAT GUN FOR GUNNIE PROM??

And, obviously, the corollary:

OPEN CARRY?? (Just because we can, and hey, our lawyer is that guy right there!)

If there's a better night for a court or BBQ rig, I don't know what it would be. Decisions to make...

In this, the year of our Lord 2011, it is troubling that a good man must ask these questions.

1911. Yes.

Was that so hard? ;-)

Thing is, Loki, I don't have a dressy 1911. I've got my parkerized GI-style Springer with some decent grip panels, but it's not dressy. If I had a nice stainless Commander, that'd be a no-brainer.

I'm leaning towards the nickel S&W Model 21, actually.

I don't have ANY dressy guns...nor a dressy holster. Oh well - my tupperware will just have to stay hidden...

Walther PPK seemed to be the standard that Mr. Bond set 50 years ago, so if it was good enough for James....

I always went with N Frame Smiths, highly polished with custom stocks.
Elegant!
I was especially fond of the pre-27 5", with Herretts or Jordans.
