I got to spend a few hours yesterday observing "live-fire" (Simunition) training with several area police departments.
For what should be obvious reasons I can't get into details, but I saw the entire range of actions and reactions. Some good, some bad. Some made *me* cringe.
I'm no ninja, but you know what? I didn't see any yesterday.
I saw a lot of cops put in tough scenarios and having to make split-second decisions on level of force, shoot/no-shoot, and everything else we talk about.
I wish I could have played too.

Watching is never as much fun as playing.
It's a lot of fun, but Sims sting like a mother. Definitely better to give than to receive.
Concur with DB, them sumbitches HURT! And that is the closest you can come to actual combat without using live ammo.
We just had an incident at a Mickey D's about 4 miles from my house where a Nutjob said she had a gun and took the Manager Hostage. The police station being around the Corner, they were there in about 30 seconds from the time the call came in. Someone distracted the Nut Job, and she got Double Tapped. Total Elapsed Time was about 5 minutes.
Best part was that no innocent Bystanders were hurt, no Cops were hurt, and they DID NOT put up a Perimeter and wait for the SWAT Team and and Armored Personnel Carrier to show up and handle the Situation. Just some Cops doing what Cops should do.
Kudos to the Willowick, Ohio Police Department.
